We at Pinot Days work hard to promote pinot noir and its producers, as you know, and we need our producers’ support as we move forward. We’ve got momentum in Chicago; our acceleration is totally up to you. We aim to make an impressive showing, and we ask that you participate again this year.
What you can expect at Pinot Days : Broad exposure to 800-1,000 pinot-buying trade, including retailers, distributors, sommeliers, restaurateurs, brokers and distributors, 2,500 pinotphiles and collectors. Count on pouring to collectors and trade members who know pinot and are looking to discover new favorites. Auxiliary events will include 12 retail tastings and our Winemakers Table Hop Dinner, and focus tastings where we feature a specific topical theme related to pinot noir (regional, clonal, vintage, style themes)
Costs: The registration fee is $450 for San Francisco and $600 for Chicago. (A $50 late fee per event applies after February 14th, 2009.)
Events: Sunday's Grand Tasting will showcase 200 producers of pinot noir. This is California's largest single gathering of pinot producers, as well as its most varied. Consumers will be able to sample up to 400 pinots from every important region in California, Oregon, New Zealand, and Burgundy, and to meet the winemakers who create them. We will also offer a number of pinots for auction, donating various charities.
This year we are offering four Focus Tastings, each with a regional focus. Each of these tastings will feature 16 of the best producers' efforts within the theme. We will drink the wines blind and reveal them after each flight. While you are tasting the wines, the winemakers will field questions, discuss their own wines and the uniqueness of the region they are representing, and share their colorful stories about making some of the most exciting pinots available. All of this will happen while you are sitting and tasting some of the finest pinots on the market.
We call our Winemaker Dinners "Table Hop Dinners" because the Winemakers move tables with each dinner course, enabling them to get to talk with as many attendees as possible. Meet the winemakers and enjoy 18 highly acclaimed pinots, perfectly paired with a four course, pinot-focused dinner. Our Winemakers Dinners are unique because we combine the broad exposure to pinot that our festival offers with the chance to "go deep" with a few winemakers whose wines and personalities are paired with each dinner course. To begin the evening, you will enjoy appetizers while roaming the room and tasting a number of pinots from 6 celebrated producers. This is a mini-version or our Grand Festival. You will then sit down to a phenomenal four-course dinner, specially designed by our acclaimed chefs to pair beautifully with pinot. You will enjoy two pinots with each of the four courses, and the 8 featured winemakers will "hop" tables between courses so that more folks can enjoy their company and hear their stories. Do not miss this unparalleled pinot experience!
